This regional forum gathers construction law societies from across Asia to share key dispute challenges and innovative practices in their jurisdictions. The programme features the official launch of the Commitment to Responsible Construction Dispute Resolution, a Country Spotlights session with focused presentations, and a Regional Roundtable discussing the practical application of the SCL Delay and Disruption Protocol. Topics include concurrent delay, float ownership, disruption, and delay analysis, with a view toward regional alignment and practical implementation in construction dispute resolution.

The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) has introduced the SIAC Rules 2025, which bring several key changes aimed at enhancing the efficiency and fairness in arbitration proceedings. Expert Determination (ED) is an increasingly popular form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), particularly in technical or specialized disputes. It involves the appointment of a neutral expert to decide a dispute based on their expertise, rather than legal principles or formal court procedures. Join us as we explore this ADR mechanism in collaboration with RICS.

This session explores proactive approaches to avoiding construction disputes across the project lifecycle. It begins with an overview of common disputes and their impact, followed by pre-contract strategies such as risk allocation and payment structures. The discussion continues with practical tools for dispute avoidance during execution, including effective contract administration and communication. The session concludes with insights into Dispute Avoidance Boards (DAB), examining their role, effectiveness, and how they compare to other proactive dispute avoidance mechanisms.
